• What is an eyelash serum?

lorem ipsum huasu kaskos hasusahdabds asuhduash gogoswanhasj.

An eyelash serum is a specially formulated treatment designed to lengthen, thicken and nourish your natural eyelashes. Providing a kinder alternative to eyelash extensions, they typically contain a blend of ingredients to stimulate lash growth.

At UKLASH, we have created our Eyelash Serum and Sensitive Eyelash Serum; both of which contain carefully selected ingredients, such as peptides and vitamins, working synergistically to promote longer, fuller lashes.

By applying our serum to the lash line, you should expect to see longer and more voluminous-looking lashes in as little as 25 days

How do eyelash serums work?

Eyelash serums typically have one or both of these effects on the eyelashes; conditioning or stimulating hair growth.

Eyelash serums that focus on conditioning can help lashes appear longer and fuller. Conditioning eyelashes from root to tip with natural oils and other soothing ingredients makes them less likely to become brittle and break off - a common symptom that results in lashes appearing shorter than they actually are. Conditioning serums give your eyelashes the best chance to grow as long as possible before starting the lash cycle again.

Eyelash serums that focus on growth take effect at the root of your lash. They deliver ingredients that help to accelerate growth during the first stage of the lash lifecycle; the Anagen Phase, and often work to extend the final part of the cycle; the Telogen Phase.

By extending the final part of the lash cycle, the serum helps to keep the eyelash follicles in this phase for longer before detaching, resulting in fuller and longer lashes.

How long will it take to see results?

It can take up to 12 weeks to see full results from any lash serum - and although that sounds like a long time, it makes sense when you think of how long the lash lifecycle can take. 12 weeks gives your eyelashes enough time to make the most of any serum that you use — whether it simply conditions your lashes from root to end, or boosts growth by accelerating the Anagen Phase and elongating the Telogen Phase.

How can I get the best out of my serum?

The ideal time to use an eyelash serum is as part of your nightly skincare routine. This ensures that the serum has plenty of time to absorb into your lashes, working hard whilst you’re asleep. When your eyes stay closed there’s a small amount of transfer from your upper to lower lashes, so it’s also a perfect time for your bottom lashes to get their dose of serum too!

Although it may seem like applying more frequently will give you faster results, there’s only so much serum your lashes can absorb. Keeping consistent with a once-a-day application will ensure optimum growth and nourishment and will avoid wasting serum, meaning your purchase will last as long as possible.

What are Prostaglandins and Prostaglandin analogues and how do they work?

Prostaglandins are lipids with hormone-like properties that play a role in your body’s natural physiology. Prostaglandin analogues are used to mimic the function of naturally occurring prostaglandins and come in different forms which can have different effects on the body. Our original Eyelash Serum contains a low concentration of Isopropyl Cloprostenate; a prostaglandin analogue known to support lash growth.

Like any hair on our bodies, lashes have a growth cycle of three phases: growth, resting, and shedding, lasting a total of around 30 to 45 days. A prostaglandin treatment binds with your natural receptors to accelerate growth and to help keep hair in the resting phase, leaving behind longer and fuller lashes. They also enhance the size of the hair base, often referred to as the bulb, creating the appearance of thicker lashes. Once you stop using it, your eyelashes will revert back to their normal cycle.

Are Prostaglandin analogues safe to use?

Prostaglandin analogues are approved for use and believed to be safe by both the EU and European Regulatory Bodies, and as a UK business, we are dedicated to following primarily UK & EU regulations.

Our original Eyelash Serum strikes the balance between using enough prostaglandin analogues to provide effective growth in the lashes, while still holding the smallest percentage amongst other eyelash serums on the market — containing 66% less than our nearest competitors. To develop our original Eyelash Serum, our founder, with over 12 years of experience in the lash and brow enhancer industry, collaborated with formulators and biologists with more than 55 years of combined experience. We have our dedicated lab and factory in the EU which fully complies with EU & UK regulatory standards; the most comprehensive set of laws for our industry in the world.

Does UKLASH use Prostaglandins?

We understand that in the age of social media, the world of beauty can be a confusing and misleading place, which is why we think it’s so important to be completely transparent when it comes to our formulas and ingredients.

Our viral UKLASH Eyelash Serum does contain a minimal amount of a prostaglandin analogue. The unique formula fosters a balanced approach of including enough to encourage growth in the lashes, whilst also being the lowest concentration amongst other serums in the market, containing around 66% less compared to our competitors.

It’s crucial to note that studies where the adverse effects of prostaglandin analogues are shown, often include products where concentrations are much higher, and when they require direct contact with the eye - both of which are not the case when using our original UKLASH Eyelash Serum.

Our main priority is to provide everyone with a solution to nourish and grow their lashes, which is why we also offer a prostaglandin-free alternative in our Sensitive Eyelash Serum — for a more delicate approach to lash growth using a peptide-based formula.

What ingredients are in the Eyelash Serum?

All of the ingredients in our original UKLASH Eyelash Serum are specifically chosen for their lash-nourishing abilities - let’s go over a few now:

  • Biotin Tripeptide - A patented ingredient that enhances lash growth by stimulating Keratinocyte production. Keratinocytes are essential cells responsible for producing Keratin; a vital protein that forms the foundation of both our lashes and hair. Additionally, it helps anchor your lashes to the lash line by increasing the production of two other proteins called Laminin 5 and Collagen IV. Biotin Tripeptide is clinically proven to increase the lash length by up to 43% and diameter by up to 19%, leaving your eyelashes longer, fuller and stronger.

  • Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 - A manmade peptide containing five amino acids which help to stimulate Keratin production. In doing so, it increases the density and fortifies each hair, leaving lashes more voluminous, thicker and longer. It is clinically proven to enhance lash density up to 66% in 4 weeks.

  • BotaniShield Complex (Cantella, Tea, Chamomile, Licorice, Rosemary, Skullcap and Japanese knotweed) - A natural active ingredient traditionally used in Asia, which is made up of seven natural plant extracts; Cantella, Tea, Chamomile, Licorice, Rosemary, Skullcap and Japanese knotweed. This botanical complex helps to soothe, calm and reduce irritation, promoting a healthier environment for lash growth. Also, it works to reduce oxidative stress which can contribute to hair and lash damage, maintaining the integrity and strength of the eyelashes.

  • Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) - An incredibly powerful moisturiser for both skin and hair and is a key component to growing nourished, long and strong eyelashes.

How do I use the UKLASH Eyelash Serum?

Step 1: Remove your makeup with an oil-free makeup remover or cleanser

Step 2: Apply only one stroke of UKLASH Eyelash Serum at the root of your upper lashes (like an eyeliner) once a day. If you’re wondering, one dip is enough for both lashes.

Step 3: Make sure to wait until the serum has fully dried if applying additional beauty products.

Step 4: Allow the serum to work overnight. For best results, use consistently once a day for 12 weeks.

"If I'm honest I was kind of sceptical about lash serums because the ones I've used in the past haven't done anything, but I've been fully blown away by UKLASH! My lashes were really brittle and fell out so easily, so I constantly had huge gaps in them. It made me so self-conscious of it but now I have gorgeous lashes. Thank you so much!" - Beth

Why should I use the UKLASH Sensitive Eyelash Serum?

Our UKLASH Sensitive Eyelash serum provides a gentle formula to lengthen, nourish and condition your lashes. It is ophthalmologist-tested and works with time-release technology to deliver powerful Pea Peptides to your lash and roots.

Designed with sensitivity in mind, it promotes nourished, thicker and stronger lashes for all skin types. Being vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, fragrance and oil-free means it's kinder to the planet and is suitable for use alongside lash extensions.

Let's talk about Peptides

What is Pea Peptide?

Pea Peptide is a plant-based conditioner containing coconut fatty acids and hydrolysed wheat proteins which help to promote healthy hair growth whilst conditioning and strengthening the hair follicles.

What are peptides & why are they important?

Peptides are essentially chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. Within our cells, these peptides play a crucial role in constructing various proteins essential for maintaining a healthy appearance, such as keratin, collagen, and elastin.

How do peptides work?

There are over a thousand different types of peptides that can achieve a variety of desired results. Ones that work to nourish and stimulate hair growth do so via three methods; prompting the body to produce more collagen and elastin, feeding hair follicles with essential vitamins and nutrients by circulating blood to the scalp, or by reducing inflammation which protects the hair from damage.

How can I incorporate peptides into my everyday routine?

While peptides are naturally present in protein-rich foods, you can also take a peptide supplement or utilise products that have targeted peptides to accelerate your desired results.

Although we have a grasp on the positive potential peptides can have on our skin and hair, research is still in its infancy and we hope that in the future more benefits may be discovered. Until then, we have taken great care in creating our Eyelash and Eyebrow serums, heeding advice from expert dermatologists and ophthalmologists to create a product that utilises the best peptides on the market for optimising hair growth, strength and health.

To answer your original question - yes, UKLASH is a clean beauty brand, and we have you covered with healthy hair products, right here at UKLASH.

If you’re wondering if UKLASH is a clean beauty brand or whether it's organic, this is for you! Believe it or not, chemicals existed long before we created chemistry, so we can thank nature for that. Chemistry is how we communicate our findings of the world down to an atomic level. Is this going over your head? Don't worry, stick with us, and we’ll explain further.

Don't be afraid of chemicals

To put it simply, a chemical is any substance with a definite composition. We communicate these through the periodic table. For example, a combination of one atom of oxygen (O) and two atoms of hydrogen (H) will result in H2O - the chemical formula of water. Hence, water is a chemical. When the structure of chemistry is taken out of the equation, water really is just water. Believe it or not, you’re made entirely of chemicals too, and so is the world around you. From your favourite foods, flowers, animals - absolutely everything. So why is it that when we define a product by its chemical composition, it makes it “unclean”? Why is baking soda that cute little cupboard essential we put in our cupcakes but call it sodium bicarbonate, and suddenly it's a dangerous substance? This can simply be put down to the fear of the unknown. Chemicals will always be a part of our everyday lives, and there's no need to be afraid of them (even the ones you don't understand)

It's typically recommended to use lash serums for a specified period, often around 8-12 weeks, as per the instructions provided by the manufacturer. To maintain the health and length of your lashes after these 12 weeks, we recommend switching to maintenance mode and only applying 2 - 3 times per week. Always follow the specific guidance provided with the product for the safest and most effective results.

In short, lash serums are indeed safe to use, backed by rigorous testing and stringent quality control measures. These serums undergo thorough evaluations, including dermatological testing and extensive trials to ensure their safety for everyday use. However, individual skin types can react uniquely to new products, which is why vigilance is key. If any sensitivity or unexpected effects arise, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional promptly.

At UKLASH, we prioritise the well-being of our customers, offering a solution for those with sensitive skin through our specialised Sensitive Lash Serum. This formula is designed to cater to delicate skin types, providing the same nurturing benefits while minimising the risk of adverse reactions. Your safety and comfort remain our top priority as you embark on your lash care journey.

UKLASH emphasises the importance of sensible application to ensure optimal safety, adhering to recommendations such as removing contact lenses before use, avoiding contact with the eyes, and maintaining cleanliness to prevent potential side effects.  We are dedicated to delivering safe and effective products for lash, brow, and hair care, prioritising the well-being and satisfaction of our customers.

People around the globe love our hair growth support products. We have +65,000 testimonials for our lash serums, brow serums and hair serums and how they have encouraged lash, eyebrow and hair growth. Not only restoring your healthy locks but, more importantly, your confidence too.

When used properly, lash serums are 100% safe to use. They’re formulated to be safe and non-irritation for both your eyes and the delicate eye area. Always follow eyelash serum instructions to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your eye serum - this usually involves applying the lash serum once a day at night, just before bed.

Applying Too Much Eyelash Serum.

A common mistake when applying lash serum is the temptation to use too much product.

Contrary to the belief that more serum leads to faster growth, overapplication can be counterproductive. Excessive amounts won't expedite the growth process; instead, they may cause product buildup, leading to discomfort and potential irritation.

The key to achieving lush lashes lies in consistency over time. Rather than applying an excess amount, focus on precise and measured application. Be patient and committed, applying the serum consistently for at least 2-3 months to allow the lashes to undergo their natural growth cycle, ensuring healthier, more voluminous results.

Applying Makeup Immediately After Applying Eyelash Serum.

A critical mistake to avoid when applying the lash serum is the immediate application of makeup afterwards.

It's essential to exercise patience and wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying any additional facial products. Rushing to apply makeup immediately can disrupt the drying process of the serum, potentially diminishing its effectiveness.

Allowing a brief interval ensures that the serum has ample time to dry and adhere to the lashes, optimising its absorption. This mindful waiting period not only safeguards the benefits of the serum but also promotes a seamless integration into your beauty routine, setting the stage for healthier, more luscious lashes over time.

Our viral UKLASH Eyelash Serum contains a low concentration of a prostaglandin analogue, due to its proven ability to support lash growth via its conditioning effect. However, UKLASH uses a significantly lower rate than other eyelash serum competitors - approximately 66% less!

We also want to reassure you that unwanted side effects of prostaglandin analogues are typically only reported in studies where products with much higher concentrations (than included within UKLASH Serum) of medically used prostaglandin analogues are repeatedly in direct contact with the eye - which of course is not the directed recommended use for UKLASH Serum.

At UKLASH, we prioritise our customers, which is why we also offer a prostaglandin-free alternative designed for those with sensitive skin through our peptide-based Sensitive Lash Serum. This formula is designed to cater to delicate skin types, providing the same nurturing benefits while minimising the risk of adverse reactions.

Our lash serums undergo thorough evaluations, tested by third-party research facilities including dermatological & ophthalmologist testing. Developed together with formulators and biologists with more than 55 years of combined experience to ensure our product's safety for everyday use.

During our group studies and extensive product trials, when our lash serums have been applied correctly, there have been no reports of this specific side effect.

However, some people can react uniquely to new products, which is why it's important to patch-test before use. If any sensitivity or unexpected effects arise, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional.
